How the Expat Business Council collects, uses and protects your personal information.

The Expat Business Council ("EBC", "we", "us") respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website, why we collect it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
- Membership applications: your name, email address, phone number, nationality, city, LinkedIn profile, industry, areas of expertise and chosen membership plan.
- Verification documents: the documents you upload when applying — for example ID proof, proof of residency, proof of professional role and a photograph, and for corporate applicants, incorporation, tax registration and company profile documents.
- Member profiles: information you or EBC add to your member profile, such as a bio, photo and professional details.
- Enquiries: the details you submit through our contact form.
- Payments: membership fees are processed by Razorpay. We receive confirmation of payment and a payment reference; we do not receive or store your card or bank details.
- Technical data: cookies needed to keep you signed in and to protect forms from abuse.
How we use your information
- To review and process your membership application and verify your eligibility.
- To send you application updates, payment links, sign-in codes and membership communications.
- To operate the member portal and the member directory.
- To respond to your enquiries.
Documents you upload
Verification documents are stored privately and are accessible only to authorised EBC administrators. They are used solely to assess your application and are never shown on the public website.
Member directory
When your membership becomes active, your profile may appear in the member directory. You can ask us to change your profile visibility at any time.
Service providers
We share information only with providers who help us run the service — Razorpay for payments and ZeptoMail for sending email — and only as needed for that purpose. We do not sell your personal information.
Retention
We keep your information for as long as your application or membership is active, and afterwards only as long as needed for legitimate business, legal or accounting purposes.
Your choices
You may ask to access, correct or delete your personal information, or to change your directory visibility, by writing to us at expatbusinesscouncil@gmail.com.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top of this page shows when it last changed.
